Searching On Google Like A Pro

When you search for something on Google, it can return thousands or even millions of results. But how do you narrow it down to exactly what you want? By using advanced search operators, you can become much more efficient and precise with your searches.

1) Use a Hyphen (-)

Use a hyphen followed by a word you want to exclude from the results. This helps remove irrelevant results that contain certain words. For example: apple -fruit will show results about Apple the company, not the fruit.

2) Use Quotation Marks (“ ”)

Put quotation marks around a phrase to search for the exact sequence of words. This is useful for quotes, song lyrics, or specific phrases. For example: "digital marketing strategies" .

3) Use Range (..)

Use two periods between numbers to search within a range. For example, camera $50..$200 will show cameras priced between $50 and $200.

4) Use Site Colon (site:)

Search within a specific website using site: . For example, SEO tips site:forbes.com will only return results from Forbes.

5) Use OR

Use OR to get results for either of two keywords. For example, iPhone OR Samsung will return results containing either iPhone or Samsung.

6) Use “Related:”

Use related: to find websites similar to a given URL. For example, related:youtube.com will show other video streaming platforms.

7) Use An Asterisk (*)

The asterisk acts as a placeholder for unknown words. It is useful when you forget part of a phrase. For example, "best * for programming" will fill in the missing word automatically.
